OG Kush is the world famous West Coast hybrid that has been used as a cross-breeding template since the early 90’s. Thanks to DNA Genetics, it is once again available in seed form through their Reserva Privada line.
Heritage & Genetics: The exact heritage of OG Kush has been unclear since it hit the scene in California and Colorado, in the early 1990’s. Most cannaisseurs are relatively confident, however, that it consists of Chemdawg and Hindu Kush genetics. The story goes that the first seeds of this strain were found in a leftover bag of weed discarded at a Grateful Dead concert in Miami, Florida. Shortly thereafter, it was passed on into the capable hands of seed company Imperial Genetics, who cultivated it into what we now know as one of the most crossbred indica-dominant hybrids in the world.
Flavor & Aroma: The flavor and scent of OG Kush have been a staple in the cannabis industry ever since its discovery. Many cannabis lovers will have, at one point in their lives, smelled and tasted the sweet, earthy pine forest that is the pinnacle of Kush genetics.
Effect: OG Kush’s famed euphoric and uplifting cerebral bombardment and heavy sedative body-stoned effect aren’t for everybody. You’ll need to have at least some experience with other potent strains if you want to stay on your feet! The soaring THC-levels (20 – 24%) of this legendary strain will blast your socks off.
Medical: Ongoing research has suggested that high THC and low CBD strains may have potential benefits including relieving symptoms of Glaucoma. Although thought to be more effective when working together with CBD, THC is also understood to have some pain-relieving properties on its own. Considering this, this high THC strain may also provide some relief from general aches and pains.
Grow characteristics: If grown correctly, the flowers of OG Kush will be a bright, lime green color. They should be large, dense, and coated in crystals. It takes some experience to achieve the optimal yield with this strain since you’ll need to know how to implement SCROG or SOG setups to ensure its maximum potential. OG Kush likes to stretch out its roots, so make sure you use large pots. When cultivating OG Kush outside, make sure you do it in a warm and dry climate.
