Heritage & Genetics: Akorn, also once referred to by the T.H. Seeds team as Snowbud, is known for its extreme trichome production. Originally brought over to the Netherlands in 1995 from North Western, U.S.A, and then reworked by T.H. Seeds back in Amsterdam – this backcross of the original Akorn lineage has all the impressive qualities of the original Snow Bud.

Flavor & Aroma: Akorn has a pine aroma with a light fruitiness and musky edge. The flavor is slightly more intense, with spicy notes of pepper eventually mellowed out by a sweeter taste on the exhale.

Effect: Akorn’s mainly indica genetics are obvious in its effects. Its heavy hitting high brings a pleasant sleepiness to the body, heavy eyelids, and a fuzzy head. This is typically followed by the unignorable pang of the munchies and a need to find a comfortable spot to settle in. Akorn is best for easy days lying in the sun or winter evenings getting cozy.

Medical: Ongoing research has found that in higher doses THC may help with Glaucoma, by reducing pressure in the eye. THC and CBD have also been found to have pain-relieving qualities that are thought to amplify when the cannabinoids work together. Meanwhile, CBD is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Considering this, this high THC, moderate CBD strain may be somewhat useful for relieving pain and inflammation often experienced with joint pain, arthritis, headaches and migraines.

Grow characteristics: Named for its ability to produce dense buds as hard as an Akorn, this stocky indica-dominant is both generous and easy-to-grow. During the vegetative stage, Akorn will stay stubby, with short branches and wide fan leaves. When flowered, the plant will stretch a small amount making it best suited to Sea of Green and SCROG methods. Akorn is typically ready for harvest after 8 to 9 weeks – a resilient and fast-growing strain perfect for those with short summers.
